Lions Club Yard Sale
The Belvidere Lions Club held a yard sale on Saturday, June 7, 2025. Lions Bob Lyman and Nancy Brown were instrumental in making this first-time event a huge success for the club. Many club members donated items for the sale and over thirty used eyeglasses were collected for refurbishment. Lions Emily Broski and Brad Day donated delicious brownies and cookies for the event and some contributions were received in appreciation.

A total of $647.50 was realized which will be donated equally to the Belvidere Food Pantry and the Dawn Schnezler BHS Resource Room for disadvantaged students. Presentation of these funds will be made at a later date.
Hunger Hero 5K in Belvidere
On July 19th, 2025 the Belvidere Food Pantry in conjunction with the Belvidere Lions Club held the first annual Hunger Hero 5K. The race had 84 registered participants from Belvidere and the surrounding towns as well as folks from four other states. It was a great day for a race, the weather was perfect and the town was buzzing with excitement for this new meaningful event.
Our inaugural race was a great success raising over $8,000 for those facing food insecurity. The support of the Belvidere Lions was instrumental in making this event the success it was. Many Lions were out on the race course volunteering to keep the runners safe and cheering them on. The runners truly enjoyed the Lions enthusiasm!
The Belvidere Food Pantry has been serving the community since 1986. The need at the pantry has grown by over 500% over the past few years. The pantry is now providing food for over 400 families each month. The money raised at the Hunger Hero 5k will go a long way in keeping the pantry shelves filled for months to come.
